Spiritual Truth

Spiritual truth is discernable only to a pure heart, not to a keen intellect. It is not a question of profundity of intellect, but of purity of heart.
~Oswald Chambers (1874-1917)

Yet among the mature we do impart wisdom, although it is not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to pass away. But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory. None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him” these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.
~ 1 Corinthians 2:6-13

There is, beloved, a profundity to His reality.  G_d is actually more real than reality itself.
He made reality… and inhabits it most fully through our praise.

This truth gives voice to some simple axioms of faith:

Spirit is more real than physical.
True beauty is invisible.

Power is poured into those who pour it out.

i was given the tiniest hint this morning of understanding of the joy of the beings around the Throne.  These are those who cast their crowns of power and authority and blessing at His feet – and His response is but to pour even more blessing and power and authority back onto His subjects.   Their lives are abundantly full, yet they do not overflow in some wasteful way.  Rather, the overflowing is some sort of positive synergy with the Father.  Except that everything they cast at His feet comes back to them pressed down, shaken together and running over.  And it never ends.  It only gets better.  Much better – for them and for the universe, for the beauty and Love only grows.

And the beauty of this truth could simply not be seen any other way than in the spirit.  He is so good.  So beautiful.  So real.  So unfathomable – yet we know Him.   To try and see any of this in the natural would be to cheapen the truth to the level of the ridiculous.  We have to see that the things He would teach us have very little to do with the shadowland in which we dwell.  They are threads of truth that give us guidance along the path of the upward call in Christ Jesus.

But most surely those threads do lead us towards something we will see one day.  So, would that we might trust and believe that we can know truth, and that some of these truths are even more real because we cannot see them with our own human eyes.

If only we would stop lamenting and look up. God is here. Christ is risen. The Spirit has been poured out from on high. All this we know as theological truth. It remains for us to turn it into joyous spiritual experience.
