Freed by The Anchor of Our Soul

Oh G_d, i’ve let you down so many times.   And He says, you can’t let me down because you don’t hold Me up.  Neither did you hold Me on the cross.  My Love and Righteousness held me there.  I even brought you through that process with me that the old man you were would die – and the new man would live fully in Me.  Make no mistake my precious child I, not you, uphold you with My Righteous Right Hand.
~ Makala Barnabas Doulos

And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
~ Revelation 1:6

For when God made a promise to Abraham, since He had no one greater by whom to swear, He swore by Himself, saying, “Surely I will bless you and multiply you.”  And thus Abraham, having patiently waited, obtained the promise. For people swear by something greater than themselves, and in all their disputes an oath is final for confirmation. So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of His purpose, He guaranteed it with an oath, so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us.  We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.
~ from Hebrews 6

Oh beloved it is true.  We are exceedingly able to worry and fret and complain.  These are both the goofiest – and the foulest – of self-sins.  And still He is patient with us, for we do not yet fully know what we will be when all is revealed.  However, He does give us a picture throughout the panoply of His Word.

He is the Source and Sum of our strength.

He is the Bright and Morning star of our lives.

He is the Beloved in whom we are fully accepted.

He (the breather of Life and all creation) is our Friend.

He has saved us mightily from death and sin and self – forever.

He is the One who heals all of our diseases.

He is the One who does not change and cannot lie.

He is Love.

He became sin, Who knew no sin, that we might become the righteousness of G_d in Him.

He has made us priests and kings who will reign under His Authority forever.

It does seem to this fool of a writer that the problem is actually simpler than we think.  In our thinking, an anchor is something that we throw out alongside our vessel to keep us from going adrift.  And this is true even in our faith.  In any of our thinking and circumstances, we anchor our thoughts to the firm foundation of His Word.  For we know that His Word does not change and is never false.  The promises He gives are more real than gravity or the laws of quantum physics.

But can we see it?  The Anchor of which He speaks in the passage above is omni-directional.  And one of those directions is directly to the center of our inner man. HE, Him – the G_d of all infinity and creation – is the ever-growing center of a believer who has surrendered to the truth of the Gospel.

And this Center does not move… It does not change.  And It is a compassionate, joyful, powerful, kind and ever-Loving and ever-growing space in us.  HE, Him – the G_d of all infinity and creation – is making us like Himself.  For He has chosen to do this in the great Love with which He has loved us.

So, what does this mean?

Everything.

Truth like this changes absolutely everything about how we live and move and have our being.  For now, instead of being tossed about by every feeling and circumstance, we are (both externally and internally) anchored to the firmest of Foundations.

Let go beloved.  You will not fall.  He has you.  All is well.  And this will never change.

Psalm 21 – The King Rejoices in the Lord’s Strength
O Lord, in your strength the king rejoices,
and in your salvation how greatly he exults!
You have given him his heart’s desire
and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah
For you meet him with rich blessings;
you set a crown of fine gold upon his head.
He asked life of you; you gave it to him,
length of days forever and ever.
His glory is great through your salvation;
splendor and majesty you bestow on him.
For you make him most blessed forever;
you make him glad with the joy of your presence.
For the king trusts in the Lord,
and through the steadfast love of the Most High he shall not be moved.
Your hand will find out all your enemies;
your right hand will find out those who hate you.
You will make them as a blazing oven
when you appear.
The Lord will swallow them up in his wrath,
and fire will consume them.
You will destroy their descendants from the earth,
and their offspring from among the children of man.
Though they plan evil against you,
though they devise mischief, they will not succeed.
For you will put them to flight;
you will aim at their faces with your bows.
Be exalted, O Lord, in your strength!
We will sing and praise your power.
