Putting the Feathers Back in The Pillow!

Christ is the Son of God. He died to atone for men’s sin, and after three days rose again. This is the most important fact in the universe. I die believing in Christ.
~Watchman Nee, (note found under his pillow, in prison, at his death).

Sin is a really big deal.

It is our own willful corruption of ourselves and G_d’s purposes.  Sin is devastating.  Sin is horrible.  Please reader, don’t look upon it any other way.

The putrefying, separating, suffocating consequence of any sin in our lives is separation from the very near presence of The Source of Life.  Sin makes us alone.  Not alone like in a place of quiet solitude.  But rather, sin casts us out into a place other than where G_d is.  It is an alone like a child ripped from her mother, taken to a lonely place, stuffed in a wretched cage, covered with a rotting-refuse-clogged tarp, and left to die.

Sin makes us alone, choking, drowning… dead.  The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23a).

Sin doesn’t seem to be a big deal up front.  But, it is well-said that:  Sin will take you farther than you want to go, keep you longer than you want to stay, and cost you more than you want to pay.

Sin’s effect on our soul is like that of a military sniper’s .50-caliber bullet to an enemy’s skull.  Gore… Splatter… DEVASTATION.  Too gross for you?  Too bad.  It’s worse than that.

BUT!!!!!!!!!  Read the rest of Romans 6:23:  BUT the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Let’s back up…

Adam started it all.  He broke open the sin “feather pillow” into the wind.  And for millenia, people were trying to catch all those feathers and stuff them back into the pillow by being good and following the law.  Didn’t work, did it?

Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous.
~ Romans 5:18-20

Are you kidding me?!?!

Catch this.  Jesus’ death on the cross (the act of obedience mentioned above) captured all those feathers and stuffed them back in the bag for us.  To be more graphic, He repaired the gaping, sucking wound left in each of our skulls by sin.

“If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.”
~Romans 10:9,10

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
~John 3:16

All He is asking is this:  Believe that Jesus death and resurrection did what they were supposed to do (PAID for sin – killed death), and agree that He deserves your whole life (confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord).  Come on, let’s be honest.  All he wants is all of us?  Like what do we have to offer with that?  THIS IS A REALLY GOOD DEAL.  The FREE GIFT of eternal life in the very near and dear presence of our Creator in return for simple trust and obedience to His call.  How cool is that?!?!

Got sin?  Get Jesus!

Christ’s death on the cross included a sacrifice for all our sins, past, present, and future. Every sin that you will ever commit has already been paid for. All of our sins were future when Christ died two thousand years ago. There is no sin that you will ever commit that has not already been included in Christ’s death.
