Context Is King

From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to Himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making His appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.
~ paul, The Least of The Apostles, in 2 Corinthians 5

The translation of the first phrase of military-speak above is roughly:  What is your position, newly-created believer?

The answer is not a rough translation:  In Christ.

And the third phrase should be obvious by the context.  Amen.  Well done.  Stay put.  Do not move!

Oh beloved, it is most surely true.  Christ is in the believer, and that is wonderful!  But how could we ever consider it true that we merely contain the Spirit of the One in whom the Fullness of The Godhead dwells?  Yes, He is in us, but in exactly the same (and a totally different) way – we are in Him.

This writer lives in the second largest megapolis on this planet. 30 million souls crush the infrastructure of the not-so-fair (but ever-so-beautiful) capital region of Jakarta on Java in Indonesia.  Going anywhere in this Asian Gotham requires a clear understanding of landmarks at the destination.  But the best tool for navigation is a good GPS unit.  Street signs are as rare as silver – and street lights dearer than gold.  And a tool that tells one where they are and what direction one is headed and where one’s destination is holds great value to the holder.

In exactly the same way, this writer is finding that the maelstrom of life make requisite the knowledge of one’s position spiritually.  And to tear into His Word and find where one is and where one is going AND how one is going to get there is riches beyond imagination!

Said more simply:  You are in Christ.  He does not change.  And while His wisdom is manifold.  His way is simple:  He is the Way.  He is the Way to even Himself.  All we have to do is look to Him.  And in looking to Him, we quickly and simply see where we are, where we are going, and how we are going to get there.

This is very good news.

So, in the context of life, it is so important to know Who is King.  For in knowing Who is King, we know where we are, and that all is (and will ever be) very well.

Christianity is an invitation to true living, and its truth is only endorsed by actual experience. When a man becomes a committed Christian, he sooner or later sees the falsity, the illusions, and the limitations of the humanist geocentric way of thinking. He becomes (sometimes suddenly, but more often gradually) aware of a greatly enhanced meaning in life and of a greatly heightened personal responsibility. Beneath the surface of things as they seem to be, he can discern a kind of cosmic conflict in which he is now personally and consciously involved. He has ceased to be a spectator or a commentator and a certain small part of the battlefield is his alone. He also becomes aware… of the forces ranged against him.
