G_d Ain’t Got No Dog in The Fight

fight

There’s no shadow You won’t light up
Mountain You won’t climb up
Coming after me
There’s no wall You won’t kick down
Lie You won’t tear down
Coming after me
There’s no shadow You won’t light up
Mountain You won’t climb up
Coming after me
There’s no wall You won’t kick down
Lie You won’t tear down
Coming after me
There’s no shadow You won’t light up
Mountain You won’t climb up
Coming after me
There’s no wall You won’t kick down
Lie You won’t tear down
Coming after me
There’s no shadow You won’t light up
Mountain You won’t climb up
Coming after me
There’s no wall You won’t kick down
Lie You won’t tear down
Coming after me

See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him the whole fullness of Deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in Him, who is the Head of all rule and authority. In Him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised with Him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised Him from the dead. And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This He set aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in Him.
~ paul, The Least of The Apostles, in Colossians 3

Oh beloved, it is true.

There are the days where we will hear the liar screaming at us, and especially in our fleshical dialect. The liar will launch various schemes to get us to believe that we are in a fight for our life against the sirens singing their call at us.

But, as all the liar’s schemes eventually can be seen to be, they are false. We are actually more like Ulysses. We have been tied to the immovable mast of our King. We are not, actually, under any compulsion to jump overboard into the sea of our stupidity. We are held strong by the ties of Love. The fight is over.

Can we see it?

The actual biggest lie is that we are even in some sort of fight. Just as the sirens would sing and draw the men overboard, what they were calling the men into was actually nothing. Oh yes, the nothing can kill us if we let it make us its slave.

However, the Truth is that we are not in some sort of Yin-Yang, dualistic fight. No, what is actually true is that The Way, and The Truth, and The Life has brought us up out of the dead zone of our flesh and into Eternal Life with Himself.

We are utterly, totally, completely, astoundingly free.

And G_d is so sure of what has already happened, that He does not even have a dog in the fight. The siren songs of the flesh and the devil have been put to open shame. There is no competition going on, no matter how much the losing parties may argue.

So, are you sensing that old patterns and thoughts and ways in your life might try to make a comeback? It happens to each of us. But, the most important part of winning any battle is knowing the enemy that is presenting itself. And, in this case, it is vital to understand the bluff the enemy will present. The war is over. Speak the Truth over this, and you (and this fool of a writer) will have already won the skirmish that the lie is trying to start.

Tonight is your night. Time to know that Jesus has already won. You can join Him in this victory if you would be trust in Him.

It is then I face a momentous decision. Shivering in the rags of my seventy-four years, I have two choices. I can escape below into skepticism and intellectualism, hanging on for dear life. Or, with radical amazement, I can stay on deck and boldly stand in surrendered faith to the truth of my belovedness, caught up in the reckless raging fury that they call the love of God. And learn to pray.
