Easter: Jesus in Absolute Control

Absolute Control

Jesus Christ alone is qualified to guide us into the vast unknown. Since he is the only one who has returned from the grave, he tells us accurately about life after death.
~Erwin W. Lutzer (1941- )

For Christ also suffered once for sins, the Righteous for the unrighteous, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the Spirit, in which He went and proclaimed to the spirits in prison, because they formerly did not obey, when God’s patience waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through water. Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, with angels, authorities, and powers having been subjected to Him.

~ 1 Peter 3:18-22

Beloved, these thoughts flooded through this writer today.  Jesus was in TOTAL CONTROL all the way through His death and resurrection.

He is the Lamb Who was slain before the foundations of the earth.

He emptied Himself and became a man.

He humbled Himself in obedience to the Father.

He set His very own face toward Jerusalem to bring about His crucifixion.

He could have at ANY MOMENT called myriads of myriads of righteously indignant angels to deliver Himself from this mess.  And have no doubt that these angels would have come with overwhelming cosmic force to the rescue of their King.

He did not allow Himself to be killed.  He rendered up His own Spirit to the Father.

He said when it was finished.

He flat-out kicked in the door to death and Hades, said what He needed to say.  And we best believe those in that place listened.

He then turned around, walked out, and yanked the keys off the wall on His way out of the grave.

death never had a chance.

Jesus is in absolute control, even in death.

Nothing is too hard for G_d.

Jesus is Mighty to Save!

Happy Easter.

The LORD is my chosen portion and my cup;
    you hold my lot.
The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
    indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance.
I bless the LORD who gives me counsel;
    in the night also my heart instructs me.
I have set the Lord always before me;
    because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.
Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices;
    my flesh also dwells secure.
For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol,
     or let your holy one see corruption.
You make known to me the path of life;
    in your presence there is fullness of joy;
    at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
~ King Jesus, through King David, in Psalm 16
