Part 1 of 2: Time to Let Go: Wreckless Abandon

The great word of Jesus to His disciples is Abandon. When God has brought us into the relationship of disciples, we have to venture on His word; trust entirely to Him and watch that when He brings us to the venture, we take it.
~Oswald Chambers

I will give your life to you as a prize in all places, wherever you go.

~Jeremiah 45:5

The Spirit is speaking to someone tonight.  He is hammering at your life.  The pain is unbearable.  You think that if you could just do this one last thing, or hold on that one little resentment…  But you know that the answer is absolute abandonment to this glorious G_d that has invaded your being.  You asked Him in.  He came in.

But…

Shh beloved.  Just stop for a minute.

We know its true.  None of this is going to work unless we give Him everything.  No more talk about how hard it is dear friend.  Just rest for minute…

OK, we say, just one more question.  What (good progress!  No more why, but, or just if) is going to happen if I actually fully abandon my life to Him?

Answer:  He will fill your life with everything you ever thought you wanted and more.  All of it.   Beyond your wildest dreams, over-the-top, jaw-dropping joy, peace, clarity and power to live life.  Circumstance will become irrelevant, fear non-existent, purpose apparent and His Grace exceedingly abundantly pouring into life in all things – always.

Wait a minute…

No more child.  We know it’s true.  We simply worry because we’d rather.

You might say,  How do you know it’s true?  i did it.  It works.  And it has worked for anyone that has ever done it.  Always.  Every time.    Swindoll – Yohannon – Stanley – Washer – Jeremiah – Ludy – Lutzer – Sproul – Wilkerson – Graham – Theresa – Bright – Tada – Thomas – Schaeffer – Trotman – Tozer – Nee – Lewis – Ravenhill – Elliot – Saint – Ten Boom – Bonhoeffer – Raws – Moody – Carmichael – Livingstone – Chambers – Müller – Spurgeon – MacDonald – Kagawa – Wesley – Murray – Finney – Taylor – Wilburforce – Carey – Bunyan – Guyon – Molinos – Fenelon – Lawrence – Luther – Tyndale – Hus – Joan – Assisi – á Kempis – Augustine – Chrysostom – Clement – Polycarp – Paul – Peter… Jesus

And, oh by the way, i just missed everyone else who has ever done it.  You ask them.  i guarantee what the answer will be: “on a scale of 1-10, i give it a zillion.”

He will take your life and put it on a very narrow, but perfectly precise path.  You will become part of the unstoppable juggernaut of His Church.  G_d will begin to actually live your life down to and through each heartbeat.  Every moment will be consumed with Him, and every moment will be filled with the absolute certainty that He is in control, that everything makes sense, and that everything is going to be way more than OK from now on.

The infinite proposition of the Gospel calls us to utterly abandon ourselves to Him.   It is a wreck-less abandon though.    Astounding. Marvellous. Perfectly precise.

Ready for an adventure?  Oh, beloved, this One is ginormous!

To abandon all, to strip one’s self of all, in order to seek and follow Jesus Christ naked to Bethlehem where He was born, naked to the hall where He was scourged, and naked to Calvary where He died on the cross, is so great a mystery that neither the thing nor the knowledge of it, is given to any but through faith in the Son of God.
~John Wesley
