My Dear Brother,
Laying aside the possibility that you are enjoying the wonders of having gone stark raving mad, I would surmise that you have come to understand that you are utterly one with Christ. One thing is certain, which ever case it may be, do not attempt to understand. Oneness with the Lord is inexplicable. Further, do not look for a cure!
A delighted brother,
~ Gene
For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that One has died for all, therefore all have died; and He died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for Him who for their sake died and was raised. From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard Him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to Himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making His appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.
~ from 2 Corinthians 5
Oh beloved, it is true. We are completely new. Everything is different.
We have not simply made a decision to follow Him. He has invaded our lives. And His invasion was so complete that the old man really no longer lives. Rather it is Him, and we simply rest in faith.
However, not only is He in us. We are in Him. And this is one of the more profound mysteries of the Gospel. It is so mind-bending that it can only be understood in a profoundly simple way.
We are one with Him.
We are one with the One who made us. We are not just some stone upon which the warm light of His goodness shines any more (for that we were). No, now we are real and alive vessels that are so fully saturated in and with Him that we pour forth the Light of Who He Is onto those around us.
And this makes all the difference on what we do now, here in this life.
We have become manifestors of the very presence of G_d to those around us. We no longer are looking forward to some day when we will meet G_d. We already have, and now simply live to make Him known to others.
We have already entered into eternity. We no longer are bound to the concept of needing to be anywhere, in any moment, other than right now. For we see that all things are already working together for the good. We have but simply to do the next right thing before us – and that is already what we will do because, in Him, we have become that very thing.
Can we see it? We are the very bodily manifestation of Jesus on this earth. We are His body. And we have been equipped to do works exponentially more impacting than He did while walking around the beautiful Israeli countryside.
We are eternal, powerful, meek, loving and victorious members of the very family of G_d. We are so identified with Him as to be called one with Him. And this is right here, and right now.
What if we began to reckon this true in our lives beloved? What if we simply began to live and move in accordance with the truth that, in Him we live and move and have our being? What might happen in our lives if we let go of mortal constraints of self and time and location and fear and doubt?
Might this fool of a preacher take a guess? We would be like Him, and the billions who need to know Him would be introduced to Him personally within but a very short time. This would happen, because the great commission He has given us would finally be being fulfilled by the only One who can actually carry it out.
You are one with Him beloved. Let Him work. Live. Love. Rejoice.
In Him… Here… Now… One with Him
Oneness with Christ means to be identified with Christ, identified with him in crucifixion. But we must go on to be identified with him in resurrection as well, for beyond the cross is resurrection and the manifestation of his presence.
