O the Deep, Deep Love of Jesus!

Love is a symbol of eternity.
It wipes out all sense of time,
destroying all memory of a beginning
and all fear of an end.
~Anne-Louise-Germaine de Staël (1766–1817)

You’ve captured my heart, dear friend.
You looked at me, and I fell in love.
One look my way and I was hopelessly in love!
How beautiful your love, dear, dear friend—
far more pleasing than a fine, rare wine,
your fragrance more exotic than select spices.
Song of Solomon 4:9-10 (The Message)
Beloved.

Who is G_d talking about in the book of Song of Solomon?  Yeah, it’s you.  Really.

Sure, G_d Loves us:
  • Heroically
  • Cosmically
  • Like a Father
  • Like a Friend
  • Like a Brother
  • Institutionally
  • Unconditionally
And also… like a Lover.

Please.  For just one minute, let down your guard and believe it’s true.  We say we believe the Bible…. but this?  Yeah, even this.

He Loves you.  He Loves the glint in your eyes, the curve of your chin, the sound of your voice, the way you walk, and how you breath when you sleep.  Hopelessly in Love… with you.  He couldn’t ever fall out of It, because He IS It.

This writer does swear with his very life beloved:  It’s true.  It is more sure than gravity.  When we let Him Love us this way, all the fear goes away.  He literally comes into our lives and casts it out.

Jesus’ Love makes fear go away.

You can trust Him.  Receive Him.  This is no trick.  No joke.  Please.  Just once, let go of the lie that you cannot really be the recipient of this Passionate Love.  Let Him touch you.  It heals.  It fixes.  It mends.  It repairs.

Jesus’ Love makes fear go away.

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear
~1 John 4:18a

O the Deep, Deep Love of Jesus!

Samuel Francis (1834-1925)
O the deep, deep love of Jesus!
Vast, unmeasured, boundless, free!
Rolling as a mighty ocean
In its fullness over me!
Underneath me, all around me,
Is the current of Your love
Leading onward, leading homeward
To Your glorious rest above!

O the deep, deep love of Jesus!
Spread His praise from shore to shore,
How He loveth, ever loveth,
Changeth never, nevermore;
How He watches o’er His loved ones,
Died to call them all His own;
How for them He intercedeth,

Watcheth o’er them from the throne.

O the deep, deep love of Jesus!
Love of ev’ry love the best:
‘Tis an ocean vast of blessing,
‘Tis a haven sweet of rest.
O the deep, deep love of Jesus!
‘Tis a heav’n of heav’ns to me;
And it lifts me up to glory,

For it lifts me up to Thee.
How He loveth, ever loveth,
Changeth never, nevermore;
How for them He intercedeth,,
Watcheth o’er them from the throne.
For it lifts me up to Thee.
