The crosses which we make for ourselves by a restless anxiety as to the future are not crosses which come from God. We show want of faith in him by our false wisdom, wishing to forestall his arrangements, and struggling to supplement his providence by our own providence. The future is not yet ours; perhaps it never will be. If it comes, it may come wholly different from what we have foreseen. Let us shut our eyes, then, to that which God hides from us, and keeps in reserve in the treasures of his deep counsels. Let us worship without seeing; let us be silent; let us abide in peace.
~François Fénelon (1651-1715)
There is infinite power available to us beloved.
Infinite Protection from harm
Infinite Healing of disease
Infinite Saving from death
Infinite Ability to Live
And even the Infinite Patience to wait.
But how do we do it? How do we wait? Waiting is not just being patient. Waiting is a state of being. It is a timeless place of quiet – a space without measure. And it is a state that is impossible to enter on our own.
Our flesh screams for attention. Our bodies ache to be touched. Our circumstances yearn for resolution. The creation that we are groans deeply to be freed from the decay around it.
This writer has circumstances in his life right now that make waiting seem like an absolutely impossible task. And patience is only barely having its perfect work. There is a 9300 mile distance between him and his soulmate that he yearns to close. The pain of separation is incredible. And many of you know exactly what i am talking about.
However, read this beloved. If you never read anything this writer ever writes again – read this: G_d is right here. He is already present in your existence. And yielding to this Presence yields an unfathomable Joy which manifests gargantuan strength for living. And it is this Power that enables us to enter into waiting.
Said differently (and perhaps more simply) the ability to wait comes from moving closer to our timeless Creator. In His Presence there simply is no time – and waiting becomes irrelevant, for there is no past and there is no future. There is only now.
And sometimes, waiting will only yield more waiting. And this is hard. But there is an infinitely wonderful upside to the waiting – we have but to simply dwell in the shadow of His wing. And therein is all the joy needed to simply live in that precious present moment with Him.
Wait with Him beloved. All is well.
