In the near-term, this just SO didn’t make sense. Jesus Christ never sinned, only loved, taught, healed and shared His true Life during the three short years of His ministry. And what did He get in return? Vicious criticism, a beyond-brutal beating and a humiliting, slow death on the cruelest of trees, the Roman cross.
Something was going on; something much bigger than the politico-religious smackdown the contemporary religious leaders were trying to deal out on Jesus.
Reader, Jesus was championing and launching the faith of now Billions who have called Him LORD, and He was paying the outrageous price of admission for each of us – the spilling of life’s blood as the penalty for sin. He was firing the opening (and in most ways, final) shot of an incomprehensible spiritual revolution.
This revolution has opened the door to allow any human being to be transformed from a dying physical body and soul into a fully human, yet spiritual being indwelt by God Himself. This new being can now exhibit all the fruit of Life they ever wanted (try on REAL love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness, goodness and self-control for starters). What Jesus did on the cross literally enabled us to become the beings we were originally created to be. It follows that becoming a Christian is not just some intellectual decision and trying to live by a new set of rules. Rather, by faith, it is becoming a totally new creation in Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:17
- Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
Galatians 2:20
- I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
But again… That price of admission. Somebody had to die. Somebody had to die to make this possible. This revolution must be important. It must have eternal significance. Why else would the Creator of the Universe put Himself through this awful mess? This one thing must be true: WE HAVE NO CLUE how important this all is. It is way too big, way too momentous, way too horrible, and definitely way too wonderful. God died for you, so that you might live, truly Live… forever.
If you don’t yet believe. Please consider this incredible gift. It is not just a symbolic act by a martyred hero 2,000 years ago. See the “Got Jesus?” page for guidance…
If you do believe. Feast on the passage below. Let it fill you up. Let it remind you that, not only did Jesus start the revolution in your life, He will bring it to perfect completion. In Him, just go. The joy now is real good. But, that awaiting us is unimaginable.

Hebrews 12:1-4
1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. 2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. 3 Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up. 4 After all, you have not yet given your lives in your struggle against sin.
