Some of us may look back and see we really have been a sincere believer in Christ; that we have honestly trusted Him for our salvation…
However, for some us, something was lacking: Could it have been something like this? Could this even now hold truth for us?…
i used to think and even teach that we should take a blank piece of paper (figuratively) – sign the bottom and give it to G_d to fill in the blanks for our lives.
Not a bad idea, but that concept missed some vital points. By using this model, i still was implying control of my own life;
- I chose the medium for His direction (the paper), and limited Him to writing my instructions out on paper.
- Further, I limited the amount of space for Him to use (the boundaries of the sheet of paper) in my life.
- And then, worst of all, I signed the bottom as if I was the one who could authorize the G_d of the universe to do His will.
Yeah boy, for our lives to work – REALLY FUNCTION PROPERLY – we’re talking about something other than just giving G_d a blank check. We’re talking about selling all that we have and giving it away (maybe even literally).
Reader, i can say one thing for sure. It works. G_d is simply too good to be cruel and too wise to ever make a mistake. Give Him everything. He will not mess this up – it just will not happen. Absolute surrender is the gateway to smashing victory in Him. It just gushes with Peace, Clarity, Purpose, Joy and Love (oh, isn’t that the stuff we’ve been looking for anyway?)!
You cannot out-give our blessed G_d. Go ahead and try. i double-dog dare you 🙂
