Who are we that G_d is mindful of us? Are you kidding me?!?! Why would He even take a second glance at the hot juicy mess of humanity? I for one am stumped. Any ideas that start to form – even in the deepest moments in the spirit – simply expand into vapor and blow away.
One thing is absolutely for sure: He is G_d and we are not. His ways are not our ways. But, let’s let A.W. Tozer speak for a moment:

So, keep pondering… it seems clear that we cannot answer the question of “why” G_d chooses to love us. But we might be able to scratch the surface on “how” He loves us. That is, what is the “agent” of His great love? Answer: GRACE.
Grace is the converse of mercy. Mercy is a wonderful thing. Mercy is basically that G_d does not give us what we do deserve. However, grace is sublime! Grace is Him indeed giving us what we do not deserve!
God has chosen to impart His Love on us through His favor and riches! This undeserved favor simply flows from the character of who He is. It has nothing to do with us, or anything that we have done to deserve it. Ephesians 2:8,9 says, For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.
Grace is getting what we do not deserve. Grace is not falling into something horrible, simply because a loving God chose to keep one safe from it (we’ve all heard it: “there, but for the grace of god, go I”). Grace is being the recipient of His lovingkindness in our circumstances just because He wants to bless us!
Grace is G_d pouring out His vision for our life on us, and giving us the ability to choose His ways so as to fulfill that same vision (Ephesians 1:2-8).
Grace ROCKS! Who…….. Is……… This……..Wonderful Being that we serve? He tells us, believer, that we have eternity to search this out. Sorry, that won’t be long enough.
But it’s not just “how?” But also “how much?” Chew on this: Grace is not simply like a beautiful, precious gift that we reach out and open for our own use. Rather, it is an all-consuming flood of HIS goodness smashing into and through us. It is a gift of overwhelming proportion. His Grace is so abundant as to be seemingly goofy in the volume of its flow.
Think about our galaxy, the Milky Way. Pretty big right? (about 100,000 light-years across). Then consider, for a minute, that our galaxy is roughly equivalent in scale to a single cell in our body. That’s right, a whole galaxy as analogous to a cellular unit of our body. This is how the Milky Way compares to the overall Universe, which takes about ten billion years for light to cross. Immense. Lavish. OVER-THE-TOP!
Reader, the same One who simply spoke (with a few words) this immense, lavish, over-the-top neighborhood into existence, IS THE SAME ONE Who pours out His Goodness on our lives. He didn’t even lift a finger to create the Universe. Yet, He walked 33 years on this earth, died a horrible death, rose again and continues to make intercession for us some 2,000 years later. What kind of gob-smackingly incredible awesome goodness is flowing towards us from all this effort? It is really good…
Nothing can stand in Grace’s way for long. Oh, that we would yield today, and be washed away by Him! Ready? Let Him do it. Have fun TODAY getting slammed by Grace and begin to live in His Love.
